We are a family business exclusively dedicated to the direct import of the finest coffee from the highlands of Camayagua, Honduras. Out unique, single-origin coffee is harvested in the highlands of Comayagua, belonging to the 1% of the world’s coffee with that characteristic. Each bean from our coffee is cultivated in small farms by producers who work for our family. This enables us to guarantee a 100% organic process yet remaining conventional. In order to ensure our final product is affordable, we refrain from using a seal on our coffee. Our efforts are focused on overseeing the entire process, from the preparation of the soil to the artisanal roast that achieves a unique flavor and aroma in each bean. As a socially responsible business, we are committed to giving our farm workers the best salaries, provide resources to better their local schools, and each year, with great pleasure, share our profits with them, the small producers who are the cornerstone of our business, and without whom we wouldn’t be able to share our unique coffee in the United States. It is truly a please for our family and work team to delight you with a cup of coffee that comes from the heart of our land to your table.
Not only the founder of Five Star Coffee Roasters, but also an active participant in its day-to-day operations. He is a fourth generation coffee farmer. Having been born and raised in the highlands of Comayagua, Honduras, and instructed by his grandfather, Raul Rodriguez, Nelson acquired the necessary knowledge in the process of one of the most important harvests in the world. Being enabled by this knowledge, he has developed a unique love for each step of the process needed to achieve excellence in each bean as well as running his own business. This family business was born out of the heart of someone who truly loves coffee. When Nelson first came to the United States, he quickly realized that coffee was being sold at a high price while the real farmers were only getting a small salary. He decided to start his own coffee business, with the intention of helping his people back home, a business that now has developed into a satisfaction and honor to sell a product from his home soil, harvested by people who work hard each day to produce the best bean. His ultimate goal is to eliminate the middleman between production and buyer in order to benefit the small farmers. For a small period of time Nelson returned to Honduras in order to establish a direct relationships with small farmers that employ modern technology in their harvest. Although the political instability of the country limited his stay, he never gave up on his dream of creating a company that distributes the finest coffee with guaranteed excellence from the central regions of Honduras, and that progressively includes new coffee corners of the country. On his free time, Nelson loves to travel and scuba dive, but his favorite hobby is cupping coffee. He loves fresh medium roast coffee in the morning. As well as having a fresh cup in the afternoon to settle his long days of work.
